Running Affair® - Privacy Policy


This document provides Running Affair's privacy policy and our privacy principles. Beyond our own privacy policy principles, our privacy policy is in accordance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) of 2020.

Running Affair's Privacy Principles:
  • Running Affair does not data mine.
  • Running Affair does not sell or give user information or content to third parties.
  • Running Affair does not save credit card information used as part of a sales transaction.
  • Running Affair does not display ads.
  • Running Affair does not send any sales or advertising information to the customers of our business customers (except the sales receipt as part of a sale).
  • Running Affair, it's customers, and App participant are not given facilities to interact and share data with social media companies.
Running Affair's Revenue is derived from three sources:
  1. A percentage from sales and registrations for products and services sold through Running Affair by our Business Customers.
  2. Subscriptions from our Business Customers for use of Running Affair's fitness, wellness, and training program management facilities and participant Apps tailored to the Business Customer's programs.
  3. Subscriptions from our Individual Customers for use of Running Affair's fitness, wellness, and training program Apps tailored to Running Affair's programs.
Running Affair Customer Sets

Running Affair has 4 types of direct and indirect customers, they are:
  1. Business Customers - those that use Running Affair's business features, such as product sales, event registrations, and fitness, wellness, and training program management.
  2. Consumers of a Business Customer's Products - those that purchase and/or register for a Business Customer's product or services.
  3. Members of a Business Customer's Community - those that participate in a Business Customer's fitness, wellness, and training program and use the Running Affair Apps tailored for that Business Customer's programs.
  4. Running Affair's Individual Consumers - those that use the Running Affair Apps tailored for Running Affair's fitness, wellness, and training programs and are not Members of a Business Customer Community.


Business Customer Privacy Policy

Business Customers are those customers that subscribe to use one or more of the core Running Affair business features services that support their product sales, event registrations, training programs, and other Running Affair features.

Core business features include:
  • Product and sales management to sell the Business Customer's products and services through Running Affair.
  • Event registration
  • Sales and registration reporting
  • Fitness, wellness, and training program management and participant Apps
How do we use Business Customer Information?
Our primary use of Business Customer information is for accounting purposes. Only Running Affair will send you these mailings for these purposes.

From time to time, we may send an informational email to our Business Customers about Running Affair, such as new features and product release notes. At some point we may start sending questionnaires to our Business Customers about the user experience, suggested changes, and desired features.

We do collect some Business Customer user meta data exclusively for internal use to enhance the product and product experience and to understand what features our customers use. Meta data is about the content not the content itself. An example of meta data usage is answering a question like "how many users use a given feature. A users content is not examined.

Running Affair does monitor some Business Customer product information primarily for two purposes: first, to create a Business Customer invoice for products sold during the invoice period, and second, to ensure that products not eligible for sale through Running Affair are not presented for sale.

Running Affair employees may view your non-financial account information in order to evaluate, validate, or correct problems with your account, as well as for service purposes, such as technical support. To provide technical support in order to resolve some issue identified by you, Running Affair employees may review a limited portion of your information, with your permission, to resolve the identified issue.


Restrictions on the Use of Running Affair Generated Data

Running Affair does not allow information generated through Running Affair to be sold for any reason, or, distributed to other third parties for any purpose such as marketing and advertising or other purposes not directly related to the Business Customer.


Is Customer Information shared?
Running Affair shares consumer bank/credit card information with credit card authorization companies for sales through Running Affair. Third party intermediaries use this information as necessary to provide transaction service. Other than as described herein, Running Affair will not sell, rent or otherwise share Customer Information with a third parties. The one exception is if Running Affair is required by law (or to protect its rights or property), to disclose Customer Information to the extent so required.


What are the safeguards and security procedures in place to protect your information from loss, misuse, or alteration?
Your business information on our Service is password-protected. We strongly recommend that you do not give your password to anyone and that you change it periodically. You may edit some of your Running Affair account information by using your Running Affair user ID and password.

If you are using a public computer (public library, school computer, etc.) or a shared computer (business, family, or a friends computer, etc.), we strongly recommend that you sign out of your Running Affair account and close your browser before getting up and moving away from the computer. This will prevent others from accessing your account and personal information.

Running Affair will never ask you for your password or any account information in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited email. You will only be asked for your account ID when you initiate the contact and only if the account ID are necessary to correct a service problem.


How can you cancel your Running Affair Business Customer subscription?
You can cancel your Running Affair subscription by contacting support@RunningAffair.com. If you request cancellation of your account, Running Affair will deactivate your account. However, data is not actually deleted. Information necessary for the purposes of maintaining business records regarding a cancelled account, including records of credit transactions and account ownership, will be retained in accordance with applicable law.


Event Customer Privacy Policy

Event Customers are those individuals that are provided access to a Business Customer's Running Affair shopping pages to purchase and/or register for products sold through Running Affair. An Event Customer's data is used for the following:
  • As part of a sales transaction, transaction specific information is provided to the bank/card processing company.
  • Business Customers that sell products and/or register participants for their event can view their customer's purchase and registration information.
  • Registration information may be exported for use in a Business Customer's business applications, for example, for marketing purposes and for race timing.

For example, if a school uses Running Affair to create a race Event to raise funds for that school certain pieces of information are collected as part of the sales and registration process, such as name, contact information, gender, age, and so on. In this example a participant should review the school's (Business Customer) privacy policy as well. The privacy policy described here applies to the Business Customer and their participant's use of Running Affair.

Sales Information Collected

The following types of information is collected as part of a sales transaction:
  • Products purchased and product related information, such as quantity.
  • Credit card information required for the transaction, such as name, address, and card number.
Note
The credit card number is not stored and used only to complete the transaction and approval.


Registration Information Collected

Registration information is collected as required for participation in an event. Some information is optional and defined as needed by the Business Customer (event director). Registrations are part of the sales transaction process and may or may not have a price. The following types of information is collected as part of a registration:
  • Event associated with the registration.
  • Participant contact information, such as name, address, email, phone number, gender, and age.
  • Event specific information, such as a give away size (e.g. shirt size for a race event)
Business Customer's Use of Sales and Event Registration Information
Registration information is used by the Business Customer in support of the event. Running Affair's registration facilities make available sales and event participant registration information only to the Business Customer, for example the school putting on a fundraising race. How the Business Customer uses that information is subject to their privacy policy and internal uses, except as further clarified herein. Two example uses are in their internal marketing and fundraising campaigns and to import registration information into a Race Timing system.


Event Participant Feedback
At some point, as part of the sales and registration process, we may provide the option for an Event Participant to provide feedback to Running Affair and the Business Customer about the user experience at the end of the sales and registration process.


Business Customer Community Member Privacy Policy

Business Customer Community Members are those users that use the Running Affair Apps associated with the Business Customer's fitness, wellness, or training programs.

The use of the Running Affair Apps associated with the Business Customer is in a group program context and subject to group program and participant management. Group management tools are in place for the Business Customer's program manager to monitor group participation. If the participation rewards options are used, rewards based information can be monitored by the Business Customer.

Running Affair does require the Business Customer to publish for their Community Members how their participation information is monitored and used.

Running Affair does not monitor our Business Customer's program or participants, unless specifically asked to for support purposes.


Individual Running Affair Customer Privacy Policy

Individual Running Affair Customers subscribe to one of the Running Affair fitness, wellness, or training program Apps.

An Individual Running Affair Customer's data is used primarily for the following:
  • As part of a sales transaction, transaction specific information is provided to the bank/card processing company.
  • To view purchase and subscription information.
Sales Information Collected

The following types of information is collected as part of a sales transaction and subscription:
  • Products purchased and product related information.
  • Credit card information required for the transaction, such as name, address, and card number.
  • Contact information, such as name, address, email, and phone number.
  • Subscription information.

Running Affair Apps are web based for flexibility and hardware independence. The link you are provided when subscribing is specific to you. If you give the link to someone else, they will be able to alter your information.


How can you cancel your Running Affair subscription?
You can cancel your Running Affair subscription by contacting support@RunningAffair.com. If you request cancellation of your account, Running Affair will deactivate your account. However, data is not actually deleted. General Privacy Policy Information

Does Running Affair use cookies?
Running Affair uses a temporary cookie for the purpose of managing the web session.


Does Running Affair use Clear Gifs (Web Beacons/Web Bugs)?
No.


How do you know if the policies change?
If we are going to use your personally identifiable information in a manner that is materially different from that stated at the time of collection, we will notify you via email. You will have a choice as to whether or not we use your information in this different manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices that do not affect user information already stored in our database, we will post a prominent notice on our web site notifying users of the change. In some cases where we post the notice, we will also email users who have opted to receive communications from us, notifying them of the changes in our privacy practices.
